The renowned composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a Catholic, and the church played an important role in his life. He was the youngest of seven children, five who tragically died in their infancy. He began composing at an incredibly young age of 5 years. The sophistication of his early compositions were so advanced that his father, Leopold eventually discontinued his own musical composition work. Over his brief lifetime of 35 years, Mozart composed 800 works. He recognized God when he said: "God is ever before my eyes. I realize his omnipotence and I fear His anger; but I also recognize his compassion and His tenderness towards His creatures."
