James Tour (PhD)

Dr. James Tour, a prolific scientist, has authored over 700 research publications and has created 130 patent families primarily in the fields of material chemistry and nanotechnology. He was born into a Jewish family, but made the decision to embrace Christianity during his first year in college at Syracuse. Engaged in the intricate work of molecular construction, Dr. Tour appreciates the complexity of the natural world. He once remarked: "I build molecules for a living. I can't begin to tell you how difficult that job is. I stand in awe of God because of what he has done through his creation. My faith has been increased through my research. Only a rookie who knows nothing about science would say science takes away from faith. If you really study science, it will bring you closer to God."
