Hulk Hogan
Back to all PeopleTerry Gen Bollea, known publicly as Hulk Hogan, is a retired professional wrestler regarded as the most recognized wrestling star worldwide. Hogan was born in Augusta, Georgia where he grew up as the son of a construction foreman where his family soon relocated to Florida. He played little league baseball and began watching professional wrestling at 16. Later, he dropped out of college to focus on a band called "Ruckus". While working out and performing in bars, he met numerous wrestlers and eventually got his first break when, after training for more than a year, Jack Brisco handed Hogan a pair of wrestling boots and informed him that he was scheduled to wrestle his first match the following week. Known for his charismatic persona and the "Hulkamania" phenomenon, he went on to become a 12-time world champion. His personal life, however, has been marked by notable and sometimes controversial incidents, including causing a TV host to pass out while demonstrating a choke hold and producing a private sex tape that which, after being illegally leaked, resulted in a $140M court award. Yet, in the unfolding story of God’s grace, even the most unlikely hearts can be transformed. At the age of 70, legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan, and his wife were baptized, publicly declaring their faith in Christ. With deep conviction, he proclaimed, "Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life. No worries, no hate, no judgment… only love!".
Is there room in heaven for a man who walked through fame, brokenness, three marriages, and a life of wild chapters, yet found Jesus in his later years? While you and I may not know the details of God’s personal plan, for ourselves, Hulk Hogan now does. On July 24, 2025, at the age of 71, just a year after embracing Christ’s forgiveness, he stepped into eternity, passing from this life through cardiac arrest into the loving arms of the Savior he came to know and love. Apparently, Hulk Hogan’s timing was good, how about yours?
